Still life with Lemon, pealed

Today's painting is a lemon, pealed in the fashion that you can often see in the still lifes of the old masters such as as Pieter Claesz. (See eg this still life with oysters by P.C.) Although I have never actually pealed a lemon in this way myself, I felt obliged to paint one of these at some time. This little painting is also a study for a larger classic still life on which I'm working currently, which will feature a number of lemons. I'll post it as soon as it is finished...
